Methodology & sources

How this reference is compiled and kept current.

Connector specifications are drawn from the published SAE standards and manufacturer charging documentation. Car-brand port assignments and NACS-transition status reflect automaker announcements and shipping vehicles as of the last review date. Adapter behavior reflects manufacturer specifications and safety certification under UL 2252 (the standard for EV charging adapters; UL 2251 covers the connectors and couplers themselves).

Freshness & verification

Last reviewed 2026-09-01. On that date, the key facts โ€” connector specifications, adapter certifications, and each brand's NACS-transition status โ€” were verified against live sources via grounded web search. The NACS transition is ongoing and model-year details change. Connector and adapter compatibility can depend on your specific vehicle, model year, and a required software update. Always confirm with your automaker before charging.
